I know that Naim takes some care in selecting their suppliers of power cords, so this story may be a little aggravating for them to hear.

In my system as I have moved or changed components, I simply reached for whatever power cord was most convenient at the time. I have a collection of power cords in my closet that all look pretty much alike, and my system is using a mix and match collection of power cords from Naim, Linn, Sony, Meridian, and maybe other sources. Heck, maybe even some power cords from IBM, Dell or Compaq may have found their way into the mix.

If I sell or upgrade a Naim component, I would like in good conscience to tell the buyer that all the cables and cords included are originally from Naim. So how do I identify a Naim supplied power cord?

Richard,

My Naim cords have what looks like a stylized letter 'M' on the end where the prongs stick out -- that is, the end that you plug into the wall, not the component.

My U.K. plugs don't have any obvious marks, but I have the same problem with a bundle of mixed leads. I guessed that the Naim cables have the silver-coloured (Rhodium?)pins on the wall plug. I would welcome any more info.

All my power cords used to look identical (they were all black_.
An obvious way to distinguish which of my power plugs were Naim originals, was to look at the plugs.

All Naims wall socket plugs were made by a company called "Crabtree".

One way (at least in Israel) is that the plug that goes to the wall is not molten to the cable.

Hi fellows,

On the actual power cord you will find a set of numbers/letters printed . That same "code" will repeat itself every foot (+/-).

For example, ( and this is a made-up code BTW) lets say it reads "SVT 125879". This code tells the user (manufacturer) important specs (materials, construction, application notes) for product worthiness. It can also identify your AC cord as the original one supplied by Naim. If you have some question as to the validity of the cord attached to your "250" because of equipment a/bs or loans-to-friends , call or e-mail your national Naim distributor with the cord code for verification.

regards,

dave

(surely off of Dave D's xmas list now)
