That link was just the ticket. Amazing. I ordered some HD 580's from www.superfi.co.uk for £95

Alot of people swear by the Cardas cable as a worthwhile upgrade. Did you decide on a headphone amp yet? There are some good thread on the subject here.

Although you'll get a better headphone amp if you go for one of the e.g. Tangent designs (get the link via head-fi) he's not making them at the mo cos of huge demand. If you can't be bothered waiting / can't afford them, a decent alternative with Senn headphones is the Rega Ear - should be about £100 but don't forget a 1/2 decent interconnect. I've got one and am very pleased with it. Let us know how you get on!

Nick S I didn't realise you had a Rega Ear/HD600. As I am spending some money I am about to receive on a headphone amp/phones, I would like to get your opinion on them. Also, my car is currently under about 8 inches of snow. I am hoping for spring to start tomorrow! Alex

I followed that link and the replacement cable seems to be a standard replacement in case of damage, am I missing something?. I'm thinking of the Creek OBH-11, Rega Ear or MF X-Cans in that order but I've never heard a headphone amp at all so I really need help!

Have a search for cardas cable, on both this forum, and that one. Ross Blackman on this forum tried it thought it was an improvement over the stock cable. Over there, they recently held some big party at Grado labs, and tried all the cable upgrades. They concluded that the cardas was the second best sounding, but the most convenient, IIRC.

I answer to your question. I run some Grado SR80's with the Naim Headline amp, using the NAPSC power supply. About £520 all in all. I am now waiting for my Naim Slick cable so I can use my HiCap instead of PSU.
Sounds excellent! But I still prefer speakers.
