Hi all

I have a NAIM CD5 (this is great!), CYRUS 3 amp and Chario Syntar speakers. Do any of you knowledgeable people have any advice on upgrade routes? Thanks in advance

I havent heard your amp or speakers so you can take what I say with a pinch of salt. However the Nait 5 is absolutely the best integrated amplifier I have ever heard. It appears to be a match made in heaven with the CD5. I suggest that will get the best out of the Cd player and speakers.

I have to agree with John. I heard the Cyrus against the Nait 3 a few years back. The Nait walked all over the Cyrus. The Nait 5 is going to appeal even more.

When I was last in Salisbury, I heard a Nait 5
with CD 5 and SBLs and it sounded superb! I agree the Nait is definately a good match.

Thanks for the advice.

Just one further question. Would it not be better to buy a secondhand Naim pre/power amp combination than getting something bottom of the range new?

Mike,

Buying 2nd Naim equipment makes a lot of sense, provided you can be assured that it has not been tampered with. I started out with new Naim (102/180) and now the only bought-new items remaining in my system are one Hicap, Armageddon PSU and ARO tonearm.

I will now always wait patiently for the opportunity for used gear before paying a premium for the new stuff. The only proviso is scarcity, where I don't have any choice but new.
