Mark,
I just bought one stuck a modded RB250 with silver litz rewire on it changed the feet, removed the lid, bought a ringmat, removed the tuner and amp modules, nobs and headphone amp, bought a new outboard power supply and power chord. I then proceeded to play one selected audiophile favorite (Dire Straits - Telegraph Road) on this and my fruitbox with a motor and I have to say WOW what a difference blew my fruitbox into the weeds. I've now put my out of date deck in the classifieds on a certain other forum for thrupence happenny because I don't want to con anyone with this bit of tat what an arse I've been all these years.
Dean...seen the modding light at last

Jon,
The trough can be moved away from the platter, so you move the trough place the record on the deck, slide the trough into place then put the arm oar in the trough at the run in groove. A bit fiddly but it works I've heard one a couple of times and have enjoyed the sound.
