I have a known electrical issue in my block of flats where we are getting power spikes, this is being looked into by EDF. The CDX2 machine fuse blew on Sunday eve and the following day all the other fuses blew in my other components I went to Maplin and got some replacement fuses which according to them are the right ones, so although problem is not fixed in my building I thought I would take a risk and put the fuses in as I was gagging to listen to some tunes. anyway all the other components appear to be ok but the CDX2 is just frying the fuses. I assume that the problem is not CDX2 related and power related? What I don't understand is why the other components are not blowing fuses also? One question for anybody - are all the power leads for Naim equipment the same as I had 3 kettle leads lying around on the floor from my cdx2/napsc and nap200 and just plugged them in to each component, I assume this shouldn't matter?
Any ideas anybody or am I lumbered with no hifi until the ELB fix the power problem?

some uk leads i have came across have a fuse in the kettle check there.

all naim equipment takes the same chord. IEC is IEC.

Are you talking about fuses in the mains plugs or the equipment cases? If the latter, I would check with Naim that you are in fact using the correct type, which may also have a bearing on sound quality. All power leads are identical, so no worries there. It sounds to me like you have a really major supply problem. If the fuse keeps blowing in your CDP then either it's the wrong type of fuse or there is a fault with the CDP, possibly caused by a power surge! If it were me, I would only operate the equipment from a surge-protected mains block until your supply is fixed. Death to the music maybe, but at least you'll be able to listen without your equipment frying. Just remember to consign said block to the bin when your supply is OK. Good luck.

Is it the CDX2 or are you powering this from an XPS2?

The XPS2 is particularly demanding (inrush current) and really needs trying with the same fuses that we supply (rating and make) before a fault is necessarily the cause.

I already have the surge protector extn lead and it's still blowing the fuse, it is just the cdx2 with no xps2.
Having a quick look at the maplin website, i think I have purchased the 20mm either 630 or 6.3A fuses to 250V? Adam - is this the wrong type of fuse for the CDX2? At work at the moment so can't confirm - I will check when I get home later.

As Adam mentioned, you need to replace the fuses with the ones naim supply. A pop down to the nearest dealer is your best option.

The fuse rating is marked on the rear of the unit. For the CDX2 this is likely to be as illustrated below but it is always a very good idea to check the label.

As mentioned - not all fuses are equal and the ones we provide and recommend work best for surviving inrush current and (we believe) sound quality.

There will usually be a spare fuse in the pull out fuse holder. This can provide a "Get Me out of Jail" card when the unit blows a fuse just before a planned weekend of music.

It is a very good idea to keep some spare fuses alng with any link plugs, phono boards and the like. Take the time when next in a Naim dealer to order 2 or 3 for each powered unit. Large power supplies are most likely to chew up their fuse on switch on.

Fuses are ANTISURGE - which allows them to survive the demands of power up. Quick Blow fuses will - blow quickly.
