Have a word with James. He is an excellent dealer and will sort things out for you. The boards will settle dowm, but should sound great from the off.

Does sound like a board problem. My 82 is great with my LP12, possibly better than my CDS3. Agree that James should be able to sort it.
Have you tried removing and reinstalling the boards?

I will try re-installing them.
There were straight through boards (NA526/1) installed before, I have just unplugged them and plugged the phono ones in. Should I have done anything else? Thanks.

I have an 82 also and thought my vinyl thru Rega P5 was fine. But I think if you want the best look into the Superline. Yeah it is more and another box, and it's not my money, but all the posts on it declare it the BEST.
I'll be ordering mine soon enough.

Just to give you an update.. The sound has started to open up, focus has improved and there is more dynamics. I think the quality will keep on improving with time, more to look forward too! Just goes to show you the importance of keeping equipment powered.

yeah, I've had several upgrades that didn't impress me much but after a week of burn in were sounding quite wonderful.
Enjoy the 82 I liked mine for 5 years.

Have you tried a newer cartridge? Troika might be on its last leg.

I'm with Kuma - 'shut in' does describe the sound of my worn Troika quite well (off to Expert soon).
(P.S. very disapointed to see that I am no longer a junior member)
