I hear the theme tune to Saphire and Steel may be involved....

PS I should send your CD back to you.

I noticed that sample on the last album too!

I am interested to see what they come up with this new album, I was not overly impressed with the last one. My favourite Orbital albums so far are the 1st (green) one for its total minimalism, and 'Insides' which is just wonderful.

Tony

I think we are having another of those CD/LP colour problems - or (hopefully!) I'm missing an Orbital album.

I have:-

In Sides Excellent - I love "The Box" I & II and the track directly after the second the box one - though the whole album is excellent IMHO as you suggest.

In Sides With the theme tune to The Saint as an extra track.

Orbital Mine's yellow. But seems to be the minimalist one you mention? I seem to remember it has the earliest date.

Orbital(II?) Brown - has "Halcyon and on and on" - probably my favourite Orbital track.

Snivilisation Silver coloured.

The Middle of Nowhere Very white. I quite liked this departure - especially the silly samples and the Rolf Harris whats-it-a-phone track.

Is this the lot - or am I missing one?
All mine on CD.

Martin

If you get the time, bring it for a listen - or drop in it the post before you leave. Nar probs.
How's it going - ready for the off?

Cheers
Jonathan

Not so much ready but piling through paperwork and general red-tape and arse-pain in order toi get to the 'ready' state. The shippers arrive Thursday, for the household stuff. And then me and the shippers pile up to Salisbury to pick my pair of Elwood's (aka DBLs). Then I need to rent the house out and then that's it. I leave on the 12th with two suitcases, 1 yello Cd, 1 Little Feat CD, 1 Aimee Mann CD.

That's the lot. The green one might be a bit yellowy green depending on your perspective! Its got The Mobius, Chime, Belfast, Fahrenheit 303 etc on it.

The 12" of 'Chime' is well worth seeking out, as is the remix EP 'Mutations'. Both were released on CD as well.

I consider 'Middle of nowhere' and 'Snivilisation' to be the weakest by far. I was astonished when I heard 'Insides' as I really thought they had lost it.

I bought this CD not really knowing what to expect. It seemed to get a good review in the Sunday Times - but then the way the ST reviews are written I often find it quite difficult to tell!

Anyway, when I first put it on it was a bit of a shock. Since I don't dance, I decided I really needed to be on drugs to listen any further. One strong cup of coffee later I was quite enjoying it!

Especially like the Doctor Who theme tune cover!!

First listen was a bit of a disappointment - in fact I stuck on Insides straight afterwards.

It is growing on me - I was in the office listening to it on a discman and HD600's yesterday evening and had that boogie feeling.

And yes, Dr Who - not Saphire and Steel. Maybe on the next one... smile

Albums, no.
But Orbital are masters of giving you loads of extra stuff on singles, and singles that are not on albums.
The early stuff like this I am not qualified to go into, but more recently they released The Box which was a 4 track ConceptSingle, with only one track being the same as on the album InSides. It really is awesome if you can find a second hand copy. And a year ort so after that they released the Satan Live triple CD with lots of live extras.
They also released The Saint soundtrack single, which was later added to InSides.
Also check out the Playstation game Wipeout which has something you may recognise on it.

I have also now picked up:-

1) Diversions - US Import disc of some of the Peel session and different takes on stuff around the time of Orbital II.

2) Orbital II + Peel Session - Australian import with second disc with full Peel session on it.

The Peel session stuff is kinda OK - but the US disc has some good versions of early orbital on it - and in the sleeve notes there is clearly another one, called something I can't remember - but I'll try and find it before collecting all those singles.
