Hi all,

At the recent Heathrow show I heard Yello - "The Eye" in the Vivid Audio room. Whilst the room was far too small for the speakers they were demoing it gave me a taste for the CD so I bought it. First time I've really come across these two guys but I recommend a listen to anyone who's into electronic stuff like Kraftwerk interspersed with beautiful tracks like "Junior B" featuring Jade Davies on vocals. Can't find any samples for you to try so you'll have to search yourself.

The other CD getting a lot of air time chez moi right now is Soul Ballet's "dreamBEATdream". I've yet to meet another person who's heard of Soul Ballet but I love nearly everything they (actually it's a he - Rick Kelly) have done. This CD is much more upbeat than the previous 4 albums yet still retains the seriously sensual sound Soul Ballet is known for (at least in the US). The first 2 tracks lead you in gently, then track 3 gets moving. If you're not having a serious private groove by the end of track 10 (nearly 10 mins long) then you should check for a pulse. Visit amazon.com for sound samples.

See what you think!

Graeme

Hi Graeme,

Now Yello that's a blast from the past.
Their obvious hit Oh Yeah was a classic but the rest of their stuff was surprisingly sophisticatedly warped at the time. It has been a long time since I've listened to them but I reckon they'd still bring a smile to my face.

Dave

PS especially through a naim system 6

Can't comment on Soul Ballet but I do have a fair bit of Yello.

If you can get it,(which you can from Amazon), their best IMHO is "Flag" - it's got "The Race" and on vinyl it's nothing short of gobsmacking!
