An easy one to start with...

"Actually it is a form of sex, but not for everyone. Those who crave excitement maybe..."

Name the Artist and Album.

Actual quote.

"Actually it is a form of intercourse, but not for everyone. Those who love action maybe"

I think that if you knew the album, you'd have got it anyway. Some hints.

Album published in 1988.
The album was recorded live in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dublin, Stockholm and Berlin.
I believe the singer sued an ad-agency for using a soundalike in an advert.

It rang a bell with your first message, but it wasn't until you corrected the quote that it really hit me. I'm pretty sure that Tom Waits said it.

However, none of the Waits albums that I've got is a live performance, and I wasn't even aware that he had a live album. After a quick check on www.allmusic.com, I'll guess it was "Big Time".

I'll start coming up with an equally intriguing quote while waiting to hear if I was right.

Who said it, and on what album?
quote:
Nobody ever said to Van Gough, "Paint 'A Starry Night' again, man!"

It is from Big Time. From memory, so excuse me if I get the words slightly wrong (again)

"People are alway asking me if it possible to get pregnant without intercourse - well I get asked it a lot anyway"
"Well, to answer this question you have to go back to the civil war, apparently a stray bullet pierced the testicle of a union soldier and lodged itself in the ovary of a woman who was a hundred yards away."
"The baby was fine - guilt free. 'Corse the soldier was a bit pissed off"
"Well actually, it is a form of intercourse, but not for everyone......."

As no follow-up quetion was offered, how about:

"He does a wonderfull tap dance to 'We'll keep a welcome in the hill side'!"

"Oh forget it then."

big grin

Mike, the answer is Joni Mitchell, on her "Miles of Aisles" LP.

... I'll steal the right to ask the next question.

"Thank you - if you appreciate the tuning so much, I hope you enjoy the playing more".
