Alert!

New Buzzcocks CD in the shops, with NEW material. I think it is called 'Buzzcocks'. It must have taken them hours to think of that.

I am researching the availablity on vinyl, if not, the CD will have to do.

So Mr Slater we meet again....

I utterly love the Buzzcocks, and have seen them in every decade since, er, the 70s. The new album is actually untitled; I gather they will be touring to promote it and I will be there singing along with a great big grin on my face. I have a feeling that Devoto had a hand in this one.

I have a web address for the bands' site which I will post as soon as I can.

Until the razor cuts.......

I have searched in vain for a vinyl edition of this album, so I guess I will have to bite the bullet and get it on CD. Shame!

Mike, What did you think of BuzzKunst, the Shelley / Devoto reunion CD ? I felt it was pretty average really, hoping for better things from the new material.

Hi David

I must admit I have not heard the BuzzKunst album; it comes under the heading of things I really must get around to but....

Spent a fair bit of the last day listening to "Product", ie the first 6 album box set.

There really are few bands that can forge a top pop tune as well as these.

Saw them on the last tour; my jaw dropped a bit whem Pete came onstage; grey, paunch, but still Shelley. Some new stuff, plenty of old classics.

Still aiming to see the next tour; what part of the world are you in?

BuzzKunst is a curious mix of Devoto and Shelleys work solo works rather than an amalgam of the Buzzcocks and Magazine. If it didn't say on the tin I don't think you'd even notice that Pete Shelley was involved at all.

I bought it soon after it came out but it is rarely played now.

Its a quarter of a century since the Buzzcocks first emerged, I think they're entitled to be a bit grey and have a paunch...

Well I have listened to the new CD now, and am glad to report the band are back on song.

Sort of reminded me of Love Bites era, good fuzzy guitars and shortish pop songs.

I have dug out 'Trade Test Transmissions and 'Modern' for reappraisal.

ITC - Mark NRG - Don't Stop

Glad to hear that - will buy.Thereis an excellent article on the 'Cocks in this month's UNCUT magazine. Interestingly, the author says that "Why Can't I Touch It?" is their greatest moment.

I'd say it was their second - best is "Moving Away From The Pulsebeat"; third best is "Noise Annoys". (generally, the B-sides were as good as the As)

Apart from "Another Music..." their best LP is "Singles Going Steady" - which proves that they were the best singles band after the Beatles.

Kevin

PS David - if you have it, re-listen to "A Different Kind of Tension" - a hugely underrated album deserving of a re-appraisal

Kevin,

Yes I do have 'Tension'. I didn't think it stands comaprison with thier first two LPs.

The Going Steady compilation is the definitive singles collection - it shows what consumate pop music artist there were / are.

OTD - Le Tigre - Decepticon remixes (previously mispelt)

Bliss!
How good to hear these name again....put "Kitchen" on the LP12 while The Nagger was out; cranked it up; remembered and sang all the words at full voice.

Roll on the tour!
