out today ?

I have it for a few weeks, now, and must say it's one remarkable piece of music making ! Quite different styles, on there, too - depending on the co-players on the individual tracks and the instrument AC is playing.

Don't make the mistake to search for John Coltrane "relics", just take it as a piece of contemporary music making between a group of musicians with "pedigree" and an exceptional woman that has [PATHETIC] earned her seat in music history. [/PATHETIC]

Best regards, freundliche Grüße

Stefan

I'm one of those strange people who prefers Alice to John, so I'll look forward to this!

Nick, you're ill.

The only Alice Coltrane record I can listen to is A Monastic Trio, and even that has to come off the turntable as soon as she starts playing the harp. DeJohnette should wake her up a bit though.

Though I've come to like some of John's stuff (e.g. Impressions, A Love Supreme) I find Alice's 70's Impulse work - Ptah The El Daoud and Journey In Satchidananda - much more enjoyable. OK, so the Warners albums are sometinmes patchy, but hey....I come to jazz through rock and this filters every aspect (for good or ill).

Seagull? I'll see you at mine...

As it happens, Interstellar Space is my favourite record, in any genre, of all time...
