Anyway, picked this up last night and a quiet day at work means I've had it on repeat for the past few hours, more as background than real listening.

Have to say that initial impressions are really very good, and it has really begun to get under my skin and infect me with its overall mood and atmosphere. Has so far helped me to groove my way through the marking of 23 homework assignments.

Standout track for me is Knives Out although I suppose this will change with more listens.

Think it's definitely worth picking up if you have the chance.

I certainly like the single they've been plugging on XFM.

As an aside, I read in a back-issue of 'Q' that they'd enlisted the help of a septagenrian Jazz trupeter Humphrey Lyttleton, who is also a 'DJ' (not sure thet's the most appropriate title) on Radio 2 - a really good show if you get to hear it - on one of the album's tracks read about it here on Q.

Sorry to digress - helps keep me distracted while I eagerly await monday's release date.

I got it on CD, LP wasn't available (here and at the time). I didn't realise it hadn't been released yet. Bit strange that we should get it here first: hoping to make a quick buck on Japanese imports?? Have you managed to get it yet?

I'm more taken with it with each play. Didn't get on with KIDA at all, but Amnesiac's been following me around from home to car to office to car to home and back again. Have hardly played anything else all week (sad or what?) Not sure it's an all time classic, but is certainly very good. Anyone who thought OK Computer was good but hated KidA will probably enjoy it, I think.

And that trumpeteer is an absolute blast.

Sounds very promising.

It's not released until Monday 11th but I can go down to PlanetJacks and pick it up @ midnight and get some other goodies as well. A book and a few other bits and pieces so it might be worth it.

The Canadian Grand Prix's on @ 4:45am that morning which I'll probably watch. Geez up @ 12:00am, back up @ 4:45am....it's gonna be a long Monday.

My loving wife picked up Amnesiac for me on Tuesday - it's getting a lot more platter time around here than REM's Reveal. I particularly like track 5 "I might be wrong". Not so keen on the re-work of Morning Bell, although it makes a bit more sense (at least to me, anyway). Overall I find it doesn't flow too brilliantly as an album; I enjoy it nonetheless. Recommended for anyone who already has (at least) The Bends or

I'm still reeling now and my order for Amnesiac has just been placed.

Not too sure about Kid A though - I'm still convinced they did a Metal Machine Music to annoy their record company. (Speaking as someone who actually bought Metal Machine Music when it came out and who was convinced that there was something in it other than what actually was!)

Morning Bell is truely bizarre, but I just love that lyric "where'd ya park the car...". The girlfriend's getting a bit sick of me singing it everytime we walk into the carpark tho!

The workmates aren't impressed I'm afraid. But I wonder if SBL's won't improve on the Creative Audio's attached to my HP PC!

i've always been a fan of thom yorke's voice, but never realised that so much of the guitar work on the albums was played by him. to see him singing and playing "paranoid android" was the highlight for me, and extremely impressive. a very talented bloke...

Great documentary, but be warned part two is on tonight and late. About 11.30 C4 IIRC. Radiohead were good on Later too. I like the new album.

Initial listening seems to be as good as Kid A if not better. The music sounds bloody marvelous on the 500/DBLs. Except to the neighbors, I guess...

"cut the kids in half" is another disturbing line from Morning Bell that I'd not heard on the Kid A version!

If you were impressed with the televisual version of Radiohead, live they're even better. Performance in a trouser tent - who'd have thought it.
