i picked up "new orleans styles" on the storyville label yesterday from HMV, oxford st, london. its the fact that it had kid ory on it that attracted me to the album in the first place. but there were 3 other jazz groups on it. i kind of suspected that those 3 would just be "fillers".

how wrong i was !!!

the whole album is very good if, like me, the combination of ...clarinet, trumpet, trombone, banjo, bass... tickles your fancy and conjures up images of a summer fair.

i also believe this is a good album for anyone wanting to get into this type of music. very easy to dig.

i also picked up "fujitsu-concord jazz festival in japan" volume 4, for GBP2.50 sale price. great value as the album is actually very good. i think i have vol 3 on vinyl -- i might go back and try to get the earlier vols at this nice price, if hmv have them...

enjoy...

..of a horn Jazz band playing for donations in Jackson Square. 99F and 99% humidity. How they played without keeling over I'll never know.

I also went to some Cajun communities in Louisiana and heard some octogenerian buskers.

Great place for a holiday!

Ken,
Thanks for the suggestion. I have been looking for CDs like this for quite a while as I love this tpye of music, but without knowing any of the band names it has been very difficult. I thought this CD was brilliant all of the way through and due to the variety of artists, I know have several threads to start looking for more.

Any more similar suggestions are welcome

Danny
