A great musician and one of the good guys. Remember the River is a wonderful album. I don't (yet) have Dreamhouse but it won't be long until I do.

Got both of those, and they are both excellent. Wondering when the next album is out?

Man, are my ears burning! Eek

Seriously, thanks to all for the very kind words, I appreciate it more than you know. I'm happy to report that my new album was recorded in early September, featuring, again as on Remember the River, both Paul McCandless on winds and Steve Rodby on bass, and adding Mark Walker on drums.

Mark and I go way back ... he played on my albums Usually/Always and Open Book twenty years ago (as did McCandless and Rodby). He currently tours and records with the seminal group, Oregon (McCandless is one of its founders), as well as with artists such as Paquito D’Rivera, Michel Camilo, and Lyle Mays. Needless to say, the addition of a drummer dramatically changes the palette ... expanding in all directions.

I'm a very lucky guy in having my musical vision realized by musicians of their world class caliber. I'm thrilled with the album, and I can't wait for people to hear it!

Hoping for a spring release.

All the best,
Fred

Looking forward to the new album, Fred!

Mark Walker is a gentleman & great drummer! I remember seeing him at Andy's in Chicago, when Von Freeman & Ed Petersen were hosting the jam session, back in the day.

Mark Walker was fantastic back in the day; he's even better now.

I have both Dreamhouse and Remember the River and think they are fantastic. If the new album is anywhere near as good I will be delighted.

Hi Munch, thanks for asking. She's been busy with a few different projects, including this very interesting group led by our friend Doug Lofstrom, who used to play and record in a group of mine. His band is The New Quartet, you can hear them here: http://www.douglofstrom.com/music-group-4.html

She also played percussion on a Faith Hill Christmas PBS TV special. Hill had her own band (and they were killer, including the great drummer Vinnie Colaiuta, which was very exciting for Sarah as he is one of her favorites), and used local freelance pick up orchestra and choir. They did a set of Christmas music arranged by the conductor, David Campbell (a great arranger, and he's Beck's dad!), and then a set of high quality country rock (probably for a future broadcast), even some Janis Joplin and Led Zeppelin. She's a very good singer, and Sarah said that she was very nice, down to earth, and un-diva like.

Also accompanying a poet at a jazz club, a cabaret singer, playing a few gigs with me, and the list goes on.

All best,
Fred

Hi Munch, thanks for asking.

Remember the River was released on vinyl, Dreamhouse was not; I don't know yet about the new one.

The only "problem" is that we had to leave a couple of tracks off the Remember the River vinyl because of length limitations, and the new album will be even longer. I don't know whether Naim releases double LPs or not, but it hasn't been discussed yet.

You may want to inquire in the front office.

All best,
Fred
