Munch,

Sorry to hear that you are not up to live gigs any more. Your comments about hearing and seeing music live are spot on.

Regards

Nic

Then we all come home and some times have a mone .Oh the sound was shite ,They were shite.
The last time i or we saw them they were much better,They did not play this song or that song.
But at the end of the day the thrill of going to a live gig and being there is the best feeling in the world, And at the right gig on the right night it can be up there with seeing the birth of your first child, The second time you had sex.Because lets face it the first time ,we all remember it, but it was not that good.My last live gig was Roger Waters in May this year.
I have had tickets for a few this summer and a the last months and the RyG this weekend.
But now have to face facts and stop getting tickets because i cant do the gigs any more.
I had the chance to go and see a mothership band a week ago getting it together, A whole day or two and still could go and see the final run through. But my F.....G body wont let me do it any more.
So when you guys go to gigs Have a bloody good time.
Drink it, Take it all in and live the moment even if its shite you wont forget it.
Because you were there and if was good or it was shite you will remember it.
And you can always say ,I was at that gig.

Great Larry that makes me feel a lot better.
The one band i have always wanted to see live and never have.
I did have tickets a few years ago but Ian went and got a lump in his head and the tour was put on hold.
My son is naimed after the band Frown
I hope you have a good night.

I'm off to see Buddy Guy in June at Shepherds Bush Empire as well. Nice one. I saw Robert Cray there a few years ago and that was a good gig.

I'm looking forward to it.

Just got tickets for Neil Young at Manchester Apollo 12/3/08. They've just gone on sale today so there might be some tickets left if you're quick. £73.25 each, but if he's as good as he was last time I saw him it'll be worth every penny.

Not sure if this counts as a gig, but going to see Emmy The Great doing an in-store at Pure Groove Records in North London this Monday. I haven't found many people who share my enthusiasm for her but I just find her songs both very funny and moving at the same time. Kid Harpoon will also be there and I've heard he's pretty good as well.

As I'm in town, I may try and catch Duffy also doing an in-store performance at Rough Trade East at 2pm.

The Blockheads, with guest artist Phil Jupitus, last night of the tour, Norwich Waterfront 20 Dec.

No-one can possibly 'replace' I.D. (though I think Suggs makes an acceptable tribute act!), but the Blockheads are a great band in they're own right. Should be interesting with P.J.!!

Beer in the Bridge and CP were fine as was the Curry in the Simla. Hangover very acceptable today.

Diccus,

A fine night was had, see slightly tipsy review in "what was your last concert" thread from Friday night. Hit after hit, great crowd, everyone had a good night.

Just back from the annual Christmas five a side tournament (Eldon Square) + beer (The Lonsdale Jesmond)and curry (The Komal Brentwood Avenue).

Sorry I missed out on Friday, fine beer venues chosen, and the Simla staff have always been very understanding when I have staggered in previous years.

Currently resting my weary limbs listening to a bit of Grover Washington, whilst drinking a rather nice distillers edition double matured Lagavulin from 1991, and trying to come to terms at missing out on the player of the tournament trophy again!

Thanks Munch,

It was a spot on performance in a 1900 seat theater built in 1920. The acoustics were amazing. They played the long version of "Thick as a Brick" which I was not expecting at all. Not bad at all for a sixty year old rock and roll flute player.
