Goodnight out Oliver. A good opera but maybe just a little too long. Anyway, it was good to visit the opera house again.

Duran Duran - O2, London

Can't say it was my choice but it takes a heart of stone not to sing along with Rio

OK OK - you did ask - and I don't want this held against me.

I am 'hosting' one of the corporate boxes for one of the nights of Kylie's stint at the O2.

At least I will not have to pay for my beer that night :-)

Cheers

Went to see 'The Martyrdom of St Magnus' appropriately at St Magnus Cathedral recently.
As far as Opera goes it was a bit heavy for my tastes.
Worth the effort for an interesting experience as I'd hoped,
due to the spectacular location.

Last Tuesday we saw Brian Wilson at the Royal Albert Hall. With the help of an excellent band he put on a fantastic show, chock full of Beach Boys' singles and album tracks, beautifully recreated. BW himself is a husk of a man really, but great to see him centre stage and getting the acclaim he deserves. Highlights were many. "God Only Knows" "Don't Worry Baby" "Heroes and Villains" (The Smile version not the truncated single) and many others were done perfectly. So whether you view it as the ultimate tribute band or a Brian Wilson concert matters not. It was truly great gig.

Little Feat @ Holmfirth last night.

Excellent, played some of their (better) old stuff. Lowell's daughter was on vocals too. 5 of the original band played.

Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu
The Studio at the Sydney Opera House provided a more intimate setting for Gurrumul and his supporting band. Fantastic voice and great supporting musicians made for a special experience. He pretty much went with the set from his first and recent solo album - a few songs from his original band inbetween and an anouncement that this original band is about to release their third album. It will be on my short list.
Cheers ... Oliver

Jack Johnson "on the beach" at Newquay last Saturday. Drove all the way there, only to find it was cancelled due to the weather. Oh well! Only a 6 hr round trip and a tank of diesel Big Grin

We have tickets for the Edinburgh gig.

Just looked at the set list for the Indig02, I am seriously looking forward to hearing “Day at the dog races” live

KT Tunstall's warmup concert to T in the park (Thursday night Alhambra theatre, Dunfermline).
Pretty good Gig (actually sounded much better than the T in the park stint I caught on the Beeb)
For anyone who knows her music the highlight for me was from Drastic Fantastic- the track 'Beauty of Uncertainty'. This is a number I have never paid particular attention to but I have to say that live, the band built this to an almost mesmeric level building up the sound layers until I thought I had walked in on a Floyd rehersal for their forthcomming tour Winker
Now for K.D. Lang in Edinburgh
