I've had the Seal cd for some time, but never given it a good listen. So, having bought new speakers, Shahinian Compass, it was time too sit down and listen to some music. This time Seal went in my CDX and.......... that CD is just greaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat Big Grin

It's not too bad, although I still prefer his 2nd, followed by his 1st. My biggest disappointment is #3, mostly because of the terrible production.

I agree with you, FE. I really like Seal IV - beautiful songs, great singing - "Loneliest Star" is my favorite tune, although the whole album is great. The opening reminds me a bit of "What's Goin' On". I listen to this album way more than I ever did No. 2.

Agreed - Seal II is the best so far I and IV in second, what was in the producer´s mind in the III ?

Just like the others, it was Trevor Horn, and he doesn't tend to "screw up". I suspect that Seal wanted his voice to be featured (and the voice is somewhat passable). With the supporting instruments, I suspect that Seal demanded a "warm, fuzzy and intimate" sound. Unfortunately, the effects that they used (a bunch of pillows?!?) sapped EVERYTHING out of the performance.
