Bruce I get the same lines from my wife. You can never have enough misery in music is what I say. Too much damn cheeriness around |

Definitely Mingus. 'The Clown' and 'Tonight at Noon'. Early Sixties almost originals. Ah. why did I waste away my life with pop music!

The big release so far in 2008 has been the debut by Left Lane Cruiser. The LP is called Bring Yo Ass To The Table and it is magnificent.
It's up there with the first White Stripes long player. Yes, it's that good. To all genuine music lovers out there, this is a must. That's about it really. Ghettoyout. |

Amongst others, may not have been released this year but boy have they hit the spot with me. Off to see them in Leeds in a couple of weeks and then at the GreenMan festival in August........................ becoming obsessed like some of you Pineapple Bush fans Regards Diccus |

Not a single mention of Bon Iver? Why?
Much as I love The National (and prefer Alligator to Boxer) "For Emma, Forever Ago" stands out head and shoulders as my album find of the year so far. The reviews were so unanimously good that I began to smell hype but then you hit the first track and think "Hmm, this could really be one of THOSE albums". By track 3 you have the silly grin on your face. Mike PS: Currently to be found spiralling round lounge singing "Come on skinny love" in bad falsetto voice. |

Have you got The National (first album)? Its up there with Alligator (which has massively grown on me) and Boxer. I love the Bon Iver album and am going to see him in September. I think the album starts powerfully but fades a little at the end. It also seems really short. Some gorgeous stuff at the start tho |
